In the framework of the 2021-2027 project period, Interreg Europe programme, has approved the cooperation project “GreenSPAS” aimed at improving public policies for thermal spa cities and regions in Europe facing the challenges of climate change. Co-funded by the European Union, it underscores the EU’s commitment to achieving climate neutrality by 2050 as outlined in the European Green Deal.

Being aware of the importance and its recognition as one of the Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, EHTTA has successfully applied as a partner of the project. By signing the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, EHTTA has committed itself to supporting projects and measures in the area of sustainability and climate change. In its capacity as the advisory partner and in charge of communication for the GreenSPAS Project, EHTTA will leverage its extensive network and expertise to collect and disseminate information on a European level, amplifying the project’s objectives and outcomes. Through targeted messaging, media outreach, and stakeholder engagement, EHTTA aims to ensure widespread awareness and understanding of the project’s significance and achievements.

The consortium behind “GreenSPAS” comprises eight partners from seven countries, each one of them bringing special expertise and perspectives to the project. With a total project budget of €1,795,450, “GreenSPAS” aims to address the specific challenges faced by thermal spa cities and regions, promoting sustainability and resilience response to climate change. Through a structured approach involving interregional exchange of experiences and targeted policy instrument improvements, “GreenSPAS” seeks to identify and implement good practices.
